Four years after losing his house to a fraudster a vicar in Wales has finally got his house back and it acts as a reminder to us all about the importance of doing everything we can to protect ourselves against fraudsters.
The amount paid out by Land Registry each year runs into the millions yet they have stopped over £115m of attempted frauds since 2016. With scammers and fraudsters becoming increasingly more sophisticated it is vitally important that you do everything you can to make sure you do not become a victim.

One of the best ways to alert yourself to any suspicious activity around your property is to register for free with HM Land Registry and receive alerts if any changes or activity happens against your property. By doing this you can monitor up to 10 properties (providing they have been registered) and receive alerts of any significant activity that is pending against each one. If you believe the activity to be fraudulent then you can act swiftly to prevent it happening. You will receive details of who to contact in the alert.

Despite this being a completely free service only a small % of UK homeowners have so far signed up to the service mainly due to a lack of awareness but it is a great way to give yourself some extra protection.
